Low Cost Ways to Refresh Your Space This Spring

As I'm writing this blog the sun in streaming into my room. Outside, the daffodils are flowering and there's a warmth in the air that we've not felt in months. Yes, spring is on the way.

And whilst the outside world begins to wake up and come to life, I find myself and clients looking to breathe new life into our interiors. Out with the old and in with new updates for the new season.

So, in this blog I'm documenting some of my favourite low cost ways to update your space for spring.

1. A Paint Refresh

A more time consuming change, this might not be one you want to do every spring! Colour in design is so powerful, it can bring a sense of calm, excitement or focus to a space. We even wrote a blog about it which you can take a look at here. By carefully selecting a colour that we not only love but that also encapsulates the mood we're seeking in a space, a room can be transformed in a matter of hours and inject in vibrant or calming new energy.

2. Statement Ceilings & Woodwork

Paint doesn't have to be on the 4 walls around you. As I predicted in my 2022 Interior Design Predictions blog, painted ceilings and contrasting woodwork is set to be a key trend for the next 12 months and beyond. Painting your ceiling the same colour as your walls will create a cosy cocooning effect. Woodwork can be painted the same colours as your walls to make the space feel bigger - or inject some personality in with a contrasting or complimenting colour.

3. Cushions & Throws

Ah, the quickest update you can make to your space which is bound to have a transformative impact on your living room and bedroom. Try swapping out heavy velvets for lighter linens and cotton materials to freshen up your space this spring. We've got a wide range of cushions available to do just that.

To inject a little fun into your space, you could try a shade that you normally don’t include in your home to add that fresh ‘POP’ of colour.

4. Flowers & Foliage

What says spring more than gorgeous greenery and fresh flowers on your table? Refreshing your home with flowers is an instant fix. Some of my personal favourites are ranunculus, peonies, poppies and garden roses, but a bunch of field flowers in a jar are just as pretty.

To keep your arrangement looking fresher for longer (a lot longer!), we love to choose a selection of faux flowers and foliage that look stunning all year round. Swap out a couple of your main flowers to create a whole new look in your vase.

5. Update Your Window Dressing

If you've got the budget, now is the perfect time to update your window dressings. Blinds and curtains are like bread and butter here at Grandad's Shed and Vicki Kress Interiors.
