Your Interior Design Bedroom Checklist
Your bedroom is your sanctuary, and creating a space that feels like a personal oasis is essential. In this post, we'll provide you with a checklist to help you transform your bedroom into a stylish and comfortable haven. From selecting the perfect lighting to choosing the right bedding, we've got you covered.
Get the Right Colour
Colour is an essential element in bedroom design. It sets the mood and atmosphere of the room. Choose a colour scheme that reflects your personality and matches the style of your furniture and decor. Soft pastels are perfect for a calming and relaxing ambience.
In order to create a space that’s going to set you up for a good night's sleep, I recommend picking a limited palette. One of my favourite tips to nail this is to opt for a tonal colour palette. A couple of shades of calming blues and greens work wonders for creating a space that you can’t wait to retire to at the end of a busy day.

Furniture and Decor
In order to create a cosy and stylish bedroom, it's important to consider furniture and decor early on. Choose a comfortable and spacious bed and we always recommend pairing it with matching nightstands. Add a dresser for extra storage and a comfy seating area for reading or lounging if you have the space.
Storage and organisation play a crucial role in a strong bedroom design. A cluttered and disorganised bedroom can make it difficult to relax and unwind. To create a peaceful and functional space, try adding storage solutions such as built-in wardrobes, under-bed storage containers, and floating shelves. We offer custom Made to Measure furniture services which help fill those awkward spaces and maximise your space.
Incorporate decorative elements like curtains, rugs, and wall art to bring the space to life and create your own unique sanctuary.
Top tip: Remember to keep the overall style and colour palette cohesive for a polished look.

Lighting and Ambiance
Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the ambience of a bedroom. It can create a cosy and relaxing atmosphere or a vibrant and energising one, depending on the type of lighting used.
Ambient lighting is the foundational layer of your lighting scheme. It's your bread and butter, creating a canvas to layer on top of. This usually includes your ceiling lighting, wall lights and any natural light.
To achieve a balanced and inviting ambience, consider incorporating a mix of overhead lighting, task lighting, and accent lighting. Dimmer switches can also help to adjust the brightness of the room as needed. And don't forget that selecting the right light bulbs with warm tones can enhance the overall feel of the space.
