New Season Favourites

My favourite pieces and key trends from the Furniture Show and Spring Fair.

After leaving home around 6 am on a freezing cold January morning and set to with a frothy coffee and Full English (the only thing to keep both hubby and son geared up for the onslaught), we arrived at the Furniture Show last week. After 10 minutes of studying and trying to understand the NEC floor layout - we set to work on the furniture show marathon...

I’ve been visiting the show for many years and still get confused. The scale of the show completely smacks the senses. It is vast. And fabulous! From beautiful bedding to inspiring lighting, it’s a frenzy of stunning interiors.

With over 500 exhibitors and 16,000 car parking spaces, it certainly pulls in all the professionals, interior designers, specifiers, manufacturers and agents. As the website puts it, ‘everyone will be there’.

I find it the perfect platform to keep up with the key trends and get inspired by new products, colours and textiles for the new year. There was some great design inspiration and we’ve brought back so many ideas to feature in store and online. I came away full of ideas and can’t wait to share them with you over the next few weeks. Here are some of my main highlights from the show along with some new products coming soon. We are so excited to get these launched!

Spring Fair and the Furniture Show

First up, here’s a lovely modern take on the traditional bureau with a stunning oak parquet top. It is a range we will be featuring in store for you soon so keep your eyes peeled on Facebook, Instagram and your Inbox for more.

Oak Desk

It’s so important having colour in your home to lift your room and add some excitement. These velvet chairs are just stunning and in all shapes in vibrant bold colours mixed with these dramatic exquisite cushions are just joyful a defiant showstopper!

Bright Colours and Velvet Chairs

These bold and simplistic designs paired with beautiful colours were unforgettable. I just love to see how other designers mix and pull off these palettes. It’s inspiring and some great ideas to bring back and share with you.

Introducing these into our Spring and Summer collections is perfect after our long dreary winter months. Let’s bring spring inside, even if the weather isn’t ready for it!

Gold and mustard

The second show in as many weeks, Tuesday found me visiting the perfect place to kick start our Spring buying season, the Spring Fair in Birmingham. It is the best way to start the year for interior stylists who are keen to source the best products.

One key trend I really enjoyed was Botanical Barbados as I am calling it! www.instagram.com/mindtgap just can’t get rid of the monkeys! Everywhere we looked, from wallpaper and Linen cushions to statues and candleholders (don’t you just love them ) were covered with an explosion of beautiful tropical botanicals. We fell in love with it so much and wanted to share some of these beautiful homewares that we’re introducing a special collection for you very soon. Keep an eye out online and ask in store to find out more.

Lighting ideas where equally fun and funky and enjoyed the unusual and quirky mix. I just love discovering the new creative pieces each year. I come rushing back excited to share them with you.

French and Moroccan Interiors

I loved all the French Venetian styling with a hint of Moroccan - those soft blues, terracotta look so strong and polished. They looked gorgeous paired with the muted golds.

The day was topped off as I shared some interior design inspiration with this lovely lady. Angel from the Channel 4 series, Escape to The Chateau! Angel has a lovely new range with stunning fabrics and wallpapers. Soon available in store here at Grandads!

Angel, Escape to the Chateau and Grandad's Shed

Lots of ideas to get our creative juices flowing. We will soon be launching lovely new stock at Grandad's Shed in Pocklington and online. We really can't wait to share them with you, we just know you will love them as much as us!
