It's ethical. It's sustainable. It's unique.
Over the last year, we've been busy behind the scenes sourcing the most gorgeous range of antique, vintage and bohemian decor and furniture. All in the name of bringing drama and glamour into your home.
The Journey
I’ve ensured the collection will work within any modern or traditional home and add a piece of true character. We've travelled across the country and beyond on this mission. From France to Spain, with lots of stops in between, we've found some truly exceptional one-off pieces. They're utterly unique and at amazing prices too. We always keep up with the trends and this Vintiquity collection is style that's here to stay.
Ethical and Sustainable
As consumers, we're all very much aware of sustainability when it comes to our weekly food shop or buying fashion pieces. And now this is feeding into interiors too.
It certainly doesn't have to cost the earth or your wallet to make a house a home.
These pieces are beautiful and stylish, perfect for creating a truly unique and special space at home. More importantly, they are also one of the lowest carbon footprint ways to shop to furnish and decorate your home.
What more ethical way to style your home reusing gorgeous timbers into a bespoke table? Or recover a sad, old tatty armchair, and transform it into something that reflects your personality?
We know that unique pieces of furniture for the home, whether antiques, retro or one-off designed pieces have always been popular, but now more than ever they're popular for the sake of the environment. The appeal to buy antiques or old pieces has grown as nothing needs to be produced from scratch, simply restored with a bit of loving care and attention.
What's more, the popularity of bespoke and upcycled pieces keeps skilled trades such as upholsterers and cabinet makers going strong in our local communities. Good for the environment, our homes and the community? Yes, please!
The Craftmanship
Making something exceptionals from the old or forgotten has been in our blood from day one here at Grandad's Shed, over 21 years ago. We opened our first shop in 1998 in Brigg, North Lincs with a second shop opening in market town of Pocklington not long after. You can read more about our journey here following our big birthday this summer.
Since then, we've been upcycling beautiful pieces with an established team of skilled cabinet makers, restorers and upholsters. We've got workshops for restoration projects and offer a full range of upholstery services. This means we can make stunning one-off pieces such as tables or benches to order with old timbers or upcycled materials.
Take this moth-eaten sofa and armchairs. Our upholsterers used the best traditional methods to strengthen the frame, re-spring, stuff and recover the piece. The result: a perfect example of upcycling and ethical sustainable shopping.
It's an eclectic mix of handmade pieces alongside a large collection of antique and vintage furniture and decor. But we don't stop there. From pre-20th century mirrors to luxurious fabrics, we've got a huge range of treasures to really transform your home.
