Interior design can be so fun and exciting. It's the opportunity to create a space in your home that meets your functional needs whilst looking beautiful. The possibilities are endless! But if you're short of time or feeling overwhelmed by the process, the experience might feel more like a nightmare than a dream come true.
Whilst hiring an interior designer can feel like a big expense beyond their reach, I'm passionate about making great design accessible for all. It's a service like any other and with a bit of guidance and nudge in the right direction, together we can create a home of your dreams.
Here are 4 signs it's time to pick up the phone and hire an interior designer.
1. It doesn't feel quite right
Maybe you've tried yourself. You've moved the sofa to the other side of the room, painted the walls - maybe even bought a new piece of furniture. But something just doesn't sit quite right with you. It still feels awkward or clunky and, even though you know yourself better than anyone else, the space doesn't feel like it's truly 'you'.
As an interior designer, a big part of my job is understanding your goals for the space, and effectively marrying this up with a space that aligns with your style. So if you're left feeling like your space isn't quite there, the guiding hand of an interior designer can help tease out your vision and bring together the room.
2. You're renovating
If you've just got your hands on the keys to your new space - whether it's a forever home or a property to let - then you might have some big goals to overhaul the it. It'll be a big project, with all the rooms to freshen up and make the most of. You start to panic that you've bitten off more than you can chew!
Fear not! We are on hand to take on as much or little of the project as you need. From organising a piece of built in furniture in one room to coordinating the whole house from scratch. Decor, fabrics, curtains, blinds, furniture styling - even managing furniture deliveries!
3. You're short on time
Many of us live busy lives. Places to be, people to see, jobs to check off. When it comes to moving the needle on making our houses in homes, sometimes there's so little time spare that something has to give. Maybe it gets put on the back-burner? And then before you know it, it's a year later and the testers are still on the wall and your inherited half broken blinds are still in the windows.
Whether you need a hand with smaller design decisions or want to hand over the project from design to coordination, we're here to help. We have a range of interior design services which support you through the project as little or much as needed.
4. You're overwhelmed and unsure
The whole process of working on an interior project, especially when it's not something your used to, can feel incredibly overwhelming. Inspiration can be found everywhere, from magazines to TV shows (catch the behind the scenes of our TV show feature here). It's great that we have so much access to this but it can mean we stop in our tracks, unsure of which direction to move in. I often speak to clients who are relieved to have an extra pair of hands - and eyes - on their project to calm the overwhelm. We take it back to basics, helping to refine your vision into a streamlined and cohesive look.
From a one room wonder to a whole home transformation, if you'd like a guiding hand with your project, I'd love to team up! Please call Vicki Kress Interiors on 01759 306777 to arrange your Home Visit.
